Save the Boundary Waters
Diversity Equity Inclusion & Justice Grant Program 2022
Save the Boundary Waters/Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness’ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice grants program will continue in 2022! We are awarding small grants for trips or other projects that raise awareness about the Boundary Waters and the need to protect it.

Upcoming deadline: Friday, January 14 for summer 2022 Boundary Waters trips.
The summer 2022 Boundary Waters entry-permit reservation opening date is January 26 – we intend to notify grant recipients of funding decisions prior to that date.

We intend the application to be short and simple and not to burden anyone with onerous tasks for these small grants.

In 2021, our first year of the grant program, we awarded grants to people and organizations doing a variety of projects, including Boundary Waters region camping trips for urban youth & leaders, LGBTQ+ trips, Ojibwe traditional storytelling, film projects for elementary students and other audiences, and DEIJ evaluation and training programs for camps.
Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness and the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in all aspects of the organization as it works to protect this special place for everyone and for generations to come. This grant program is one small outcome of this commitment, and we look forward to building meaningful partnerships with individuals, organizations, businesses, etc. who share in this vision.

We hope you are interested in applying, please reach out with any questions or to discuss your project if you'd like to before applying.
