Welcome to our website (“Site”). Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness (“NMW”) has strong ties to the wild public lands of northern Minnesota and Canada, and advocates for the life-sustaining values of wilderness (“Services”). By using the Site or our Services, you consent to the collection and use of your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy explains why we gather information from you, what information we collect, how we collect it, what we use the information for and how to contact us about use of that information.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. When visiting our Site and using our Services that link to or reference this Policy, you agree to its terms. This Privacy Policy governs your use of our Site and Services.
Personal Information is usually your name in combination with another identifier, such as date of birth, postal address, email address, telephone number, or government-issued identification number. The specific definition of Personal Information often varies from one jurisdiction to another.
Personal information we collect
We may collect your Personal Information when you sign a petition, make a donation,* fill out a form, subscribe to our newsletter or text messages, participate in advocacy actions, or communicate with us via phone, email, or other means. Examples of the Personal Information we collect include: your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, payment information (processed via third-party platforms), and any other information you may provide us.
If you interact with us on social media, we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your posts or interactions with us. We reserve the right to remove any such content.
We will not use the Personal Information collected for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing you notice.
*Online donations are processed through a secure third-party banking center. We do not receive or store your credit card information. Such information will only be used to complete the transaction.
Personal information of children under the age of 13
Our Site and Services are not designed or targeted for children, and NMW does not knowingly collect, use or maintain information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us so that we may delete such information. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children never to provide Personal Information on our Site without their permission. If you learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with Personal Information in violation of this Privacy Policy, then you may alert us at Info@SavetheBoundaryWaters.org with “Privacy” in the subject line. We will take reasonable steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.

This information may include your browser type (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge), your domain, the Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to your computer (or the unique device ID of your mobile device, or other unique identifier), the date and time of your visits, the pages on the Site you visit, and other information related to your visit.
This information helps us better understand how individuals use our Site and Services and improve their experience. We also use cookies to help us understand website traffic and engagement. We do not use cookies for Drupal-related tracking.
We also use trusted third-party services, such as Google Analytics, to help us track or analyze information.

Email communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect your postal code and email address to keep you informed about the ways you can help protect the wilderness and the Boundary Waters. We track when you click on a link in our emails to you. You may unsubscribe from these emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any message, or by contacting us at Info@SavetheBoundaryWaters.org with “Privacy” in the subject line.
Pixels
We use tracking pixels on our website to gather information about you and your actions on our site, such as your IP address, web browser, page location, referrer site, button clicks and other information. You can manage your tracking pixel settings through your browser privacy settings.
Do not track
There are “do not track” restriction choices available for certain web browsers, however, at this time, our Site does not respond to “do not track” signals.
How we use Personal Information

NMW does not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personal Information to third parties for marketing to you. We may share your Personal Information with affiliate organizations or trusted third-party service providers for payment processing or data analysis. These parties are only given access to the data necessary to perform their services. We require those providers not to disclose Personal Information and to use only it for the limited purposes we provided it.
Our employees and agents may view your Personal Information to perform their jobs and service your needs. We authorize their access to your Personal Information on a need-to-know basis to provide you with our services, or for one of the other reasons listed in this Privacy Policy.
We may transfer and/or disclose your Personal Information as part of a business divestiture, sale, merger, or acquisition of all or a part of our organization. If another organization acquires our organization or assets, that company will possess the Personal Information collected by us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy. In addition, we may share aggregate, non-individual information, incapable of identifying a particular person, to administer and improve the Site, analyze trends, track visitors’ use of the Site, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

NMW may maintain the Personal Information it collects from you on computers located outside of your state or other government jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Right to access. You can request and receive a copy of the Personal Information we have collected, used, or otherwise processed and you can confirm what Personal Information has been collected.
Right to correct inaccuracies. You can request that we correct any inaccurate Personal Information we may have.
Right to delete. You can request deletion of your Personal Information.
Right to opt-out. You can opt-out of targeted advertising, the sale of your Personal Information or limited sharing of your Personal Information.
Right to appeal. At times we may be unable to process requests relating to your Personal Information, in which case, your request will be denied. If your privacy rights request has previously been denied by us and you believe we denied it in error, you may appeal for reconsideration of your request via email at Info@SavetheBoundaryWaters.org.
Please note that we may need to authenticate your identity before your request can be processed. For authentication, you may be asked to provide certain passwords, personal information or other authenticating information. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; however, we may seek proof of such authorization and you will still need to verify your identity directly with us before your request can be processed.
Text messages
We may request your mobile number to send occasional SMS / text messages about our work. To opt-in, your wireless device must be subscribed to 2-way messaging services from your wireless carrier. Carrier traffic may result in delayed or undelivered messages. Text messages to you are at no cost, but your wireless carrier may charge you standard messaging fees or taxes for each message you send or receive, depending on your wireless subscription plan.
Your mobile phone number or your consent to SMS / texting will not be shared with third parties seeking to market to you. You may reply STOP at any time to cease marketing texts.
