Highlights from our 2026 Ely Garden Party

On Sunday, July 12, we gathered on the banks of the Kawishiwi River to celebrate the past year of working to permanently protect the Wilderness and the community that surrounds it, and to recommit to another year of progress. With over 200 supporters, neighbors, and friends joining us on a hot afternoon, our annual Ely Garden Party was a huge success. We listened to live music from local artists, enjoyed fresh food from Boundary Waters Catering, and shared many joy-filled stories of paddling trips from the summer thus far.

Held each summer on the shores of the Kawishiwi River (also ground zero of the proposed Twin Metals mine) this is our signature Northwoods event—a chance to gather in the place we’re fighting to protect, surrounded by the people who care most about its future.

Thanks to our generous supporters, both near and far, this event raised nearly $40,000 for the protection of Canoe Country. These contributions are already being put to work defending this irreplaceable Wilderness during this critical moment. Thank you for your support.
