You have one chance to save a national treasure
The U.S. Forest Service held listening sessions in Duluth on July 13 and in Ely on July 19
regarding the decision about whether or not to consent to renewal of Twin Metals leases.
We appreciate all the supporters who came out to these sessions and signed the petition to the Forest Service (which closed on July 20).
The Forest Service has already said that it "is deeply concerned by the location of the leases within the same watershed as the BWCAW, and by the inherent risks associated with potential copper, nickel, and other sulfide mining operations within that watershed."
This is a great opportunity to show the overwhelming broad support for protecting the Boundary Waters from risky sulfide-ore copper mining.
